Taste of Thai – San Diego, CA Restaurant Review
Before going to Ray at Night, a gallery walk in North Park, my dear friend CC and I decided to go to Taste of Thai in Hillcrest for an early dinner. Mind you it was the beginning of the dinner rush, so we knew it could be a while before we could find parking and actually sit down to a meal. We had been there before and liked the service, ambiance and food. There are just a few places in town where I’ve found curry that I like. This is one of them. As luck would have it, we found a parking place right in front of the restaurant door (CC has the best parking karma I’ve ever seen.) There also happened to be one last outdoor table available. We both love to dine outside… it feels so European and wonderful. Then we can people watch while we catch up on our families and ourselves. We are both very active and appreciate the life that goes on around us. With CC traveling the world all the time, he has endless adventures. So many times when we talk, we both just embrace how wonderful it is to be in San Diego and living with good health, loving family, and friends nearby. And good food enhances all that life has to offer.
Enough of all that, let’s talk about the food and service at Taste of Thai. About 15 minutes after we arrived, the restaurant filled with people. We were seated in less than 5 minutes. The other diners waiting seemed to be seated in a short period of time, as I don’t recall seeing a standing crowd for very long.
Mark, our server, was at our table in less than 5 minutes. I think there were three different people helping to serve us. We ordered Choochi Curry Salmon and Choochi Curry Chicken, which is mild and sweet curry, coconut milk, peas and carrots. There was only one time we had to ask another waiter to get Mark so we could get another drink, but that waiter seemed happy to bring us the drink himself. The staff seemed to work very well together and took excellent care of us. Taste of Thai will remain one of our favorite Thai restaurants. Service and food are wonderful, and they have awesome coupons.
